Missed-call text back for plumbers
When plumbers miss calls
Most plumbing calls come in while you're already on a job. You're under a kitchen sink with a basin wrench. You're in a crawlspace with a headlamp and no signal. You're cutting out a section of drywall to reach a leak, and your hands are wet. By the time you can check the phone, the caller has already tried two other numbers.
Plumbing calls are also time-sensitive in a way many trades aren't. A backed-up toilet or a water heater leaking into the garage doesn't wait until you're back in the truck. The homeowner calls the first few plumbers they find and books with whoever replies first. Industry data says 27–28% of calls to small service businesses go unanswered, and fewer than 3 in 100 callers leave a voicemail. For a plumber, that's a lot of drain and leak jobs that never reach you.
Callwake doesn't make you answer faster. It replies for you. Unanswered calls forward to your dedicated text line, the caller hears a short notice, and a text from your business arrives within seconds. You finish the job in front of you and pick up the conversation when you're ready.
What callers usually need
We start every plumbing account with the services callers ask about most. You can rename, remove or add services in Settings.
- Leak repair. Drips under sinks, pipe leaks in walls, ceiling stains. Callers often want to know if it's an emergency.
- Drain cleaning. Slow drains, clogged kitchen sinks, backed-up toilets and main-line backups.
- Water heater. No hot water, a leaking tank, or a homeowner pricing a replacement.
- Toilet & faucet. Running toilets, broken flush valves, faucet swaps and new fixtures.
- Emergency plumbing. Burst pipes, no water, or water where it shouldn't be. These callers want an answer right now.
Active leaks get flagged
If a caller says water is spreading or they have no water at all, the conversation follows your emergency answer. If that answer doesn't cover their situation, Callwake stops and tells you to call them back. It never promises a same-day visit you didn't approve.
What it looks like
Here's a typical conversation after a missed call. The caller first hears a short recorded notice, then gets this text from the business's dedicated text line.
Northside Plumbing: Sorry we missed your call! This is our text line - what do you need help with? Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Kitchen sink is backed up and won't drain at all
Northside Plumbing: Sorry to hear that. We handle drain cleaning. Is the water backing up into the other side of the sink or the dishwasher too?
Yes both sides
Northside Plumbing: Thanks. We have Tue at 10:00 AM or Tue at 12:00 PM - which works for you?
10 works
Northside Plumbing: You're booked for Tue at 10:00 AM. We'll see you then. Reply STOP to opt out.
The times come from your real open slots. The owner gets an alert with the caller's number, the issue and the booked time. Want to try one yourself? Use the live demo.

Frequently asked questions
Can Callwake tell a caller how much a water heater costs?
Only if you add an approved answer with a price. By default it says you confirm the estimate on site before any work starts.
What happens if someone texts about a burst pipe at night?
Callwake replies with your emergency answer and your after-hours wording. If the caller needs more than your answers cover, it stops and alerts you to call them back.
I'm in crawlspaces with no signal. Does that matter?
No. Callwake runs on our servers, not your phone. Forwarding happens at your carrier, so the caller gets a text even if your phone has no signal.
Will customers know they're texting a system and not me?
Every text starts with your business name and uses only answers you approved. If a question is outside those answers, Callwake hands the conversation to you.
